Another group of Scots. Another rock band ... The View from Dundee.
We had liked their first album without more, especially because of the wonderful 'The Don', interesting voice, and mood.
We had liked their first album without more, especially because of the wonderful 'The Don', interesting voice, and mood.
Their second album is at once more worked 'Typical Time' , gives a short introduction clearly set the tone for an album that feels good Scottish evenings, the 'r' wraps, beer, street, joy, rock and pop.
'5 Rebeccas' is a single perfect with an unstoppable chorus after the bridge swung very effective. 'Schock Horror' 'Double Yellow Lines' and 'Jimmy's Crazy Conspiracy' are songs from the same cloth, in a little less well, and we'd love to see it live.
But it is in the register of ballads that the band completely bluffing, especially with a very successful 'Covers' (duet with Paolo Nutini) and 'Give Back The Sun' melodies that stuck in your head all day. In the same vein, we adore 'Gem Of A Bird' .
'One Off Pretender' sounds very wheezy and my opinion is the only way less successful, although it has the merit of being original. All other titles are worth a visit and it appears from the album with 13 songs that take their time to engage fully, but definitely hang ear.
The singer was taking a stamp, the melodies are both original and successful, the excellent orchestrations, and everything smells like real music, tinged with a unique atmosphere.
No doubt, we face a very good album.
