Lesson No.5: transcend critical to choose change

In my previous posts, I explored in general what is a new form of leadership, however, illustrate my findings with concrete examples. For this fifth post, I will proceed differently, using the example of the government Quebec, because this administration is under my eyes. However, I want to say that everything applies to any government, because most politicians have adopted similar behaviors.

For transformation to take place in governance, a transition from the old model of leadership, to open government, leaders must realize that they must change the way they behave.

The constant criticism to each other (and other parties) generate fear to act.

Fear of acting led to a lack of action.

Lack of action leads ultimately to the political vacuum.

Lucien Bouchard (former premier of Quebec from 1996 to 2001) finds the situation in Quebec: "It explained by the political vacuum. And the political vacuum, not Francois Legault, who has created is the other two parties [Quebec Liberal Party and the Parti Québécois] . They are afraid of the reaction each time it takes an effort. Watch how the Liberals have retired after the last budget. The PQ, he came to the power and does not want to offend. But people are not stupid, they see what happens . "

a different story, an explanation in other words, but that leads to the same conclusion comes from Francis Bonnardel, ADQ member for Shefford. He said : "This is a government tired, soulless, which is not able to undertake the policy challenges to be addressed by the Quebec over the next 20 years. "

One talks about empty, while the other speaks of a lack of soul.

Lucien Bouchard provides the solution to the leaders: " Understand me, I empathize with politicians, they work all the time, they have sleepless nights, they are attack for each decision and what they are doing is absolutely not valued. must revalue political project. "

That is not me who said it! Someone had the courage to stand up and speak. The solution is to stop criticizing and value. Bouchard added, "political project". I think politicians must first learn to value, period. And the political will of course, they manage to change their thinking.

Once you realize that there are some steps on the road to recovery before being able to embrace change. Politicians to abandon their usual mechanism - their propensity to attack each decision - should undertake a process of transformation in three stages.

Transcendence
When in trouble, people naturally seek an escape attempt. They wish to remove their fears by seeking distraction, denying the problem, blaming others, seeking a scapegoat, replacing it with a feeling more acceptable, such as anger, and so on. But none of these tactics really works. To allay critics, you must go to a location beyond the conflict. This place really exists. The challenge is to find that place inside yourself.

You transcend the negativity whenever the following things happen:
• Sit with yourself, dive on the inside. Let your inner dialogue to calm down.
• You feel a sense of empathy for someone else
• You will be able to give of yourself
• You arrive at your interest in someone else and enjoy
• You'll faced with a situation beyond your own point of view
• Let yourself be inspired by someone or something
• You feel the faith and trust in something bigger than you
• You will be able to let go
• You will act morally, instead of selfishly

Objectivity
People tend to repeat themselves from false solutions to the point where it becomes difficult to see otherwise. The mechanisms of denial and repression are powerful. People are talking themselves into believing they have no problem or that their negativity is under control. In reality, there is a denominator common to all false solutions: lack of objectivity.

You must be able to demonstrate a degree of objectivity before they face problems.

You will be objective when the following things happen:
• Looking for a new perspective of someone in whom you trust
• You will find that your problem is repetitive - you realize that you have already found in a situation like this before
• Looking for quiet moments
• You will be able to laugh at yourself
• You can see the same situation in someone else
• You'll trust a counselor who has helped others in your situation
• Hope you become a real possibility, not an empty promise
• You will discover your inner power and forfeit the victimization

Change
Once you reach a certain degree of objectivity, a road will begin to open, and the next you come to transcend situations. That's when change becomes possible, because you'll become a mindset toward solutions. To get there, you must replace criticism by the appreciation of the other, optimism, compassion, kindness, tolerance and acceptance. This is all part of consciousness, and at one time or another, everyone is able to experience, albeit fleeting.

You know that change can take place when the following things happen:
• You will be lenient with yourself
• You will understand without judging
• You relinquish old grudges
• You realize that forgiveness is possible, especially you forgive yourself
• You stop blaming
• You will live in this
• You will end toxic relationships
• Looking for an emotionally healthy environment
• You will make plans for a better future and you will comply
• You will find the courage to face the feelings of fear
• You learn to be alone, you appreciate just being
• You will develop a greater vision of life
• You listen to your intuition and seek to cultivate
• You cease to define yourself with money, power and possessions.

practical solutions to change from a choice .

In the context of Open Government, which must be achieved to implement a model based on co-creation, or co-production, if politicians do not change their way of thinking, if they continue to cling to attack each decision, they will fail miserably and will fail to establish a real open governance. As not to curb creativity - co-creativity or co-production - all ideas must be able to coexist without value judgments. Critical thinking must be transformed into constructive criticism and proactive.
